Meet Erica
Erica Pope is a Licensed Social Worker, dedicated Mental Health Advocate, and experienced Human Resources Manager with a passion for building stronger, healthier communities. A longtime resident of Dacula, Erica is running for City Council to create safe, inclusive spaces that prioritize mental health support—in schools, community centers, and across our city.
Erica’s personal journey has shaped her mission to break the stigma around mental health and ensure every resident feels seen, heard, and supported. Her work in social services has given her firsthand insight into the challenges families face, from child welfare investigations in Gwinnett and Fulton Counties to corporate partnerships that address social determinants of health at WellCare Health Plans.
Erica grew up with a servant’s heart and a deep commitment to community—values instilled by her father, Jr. Ewing, a lifelong advocate and public servant. As a first-generation college graduate, Erica earned her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and a master’s in Human Resource Leadership from Capella University. She brings a unique blend of compassion, professional expertise, and real-world leadership to the table.
Erica lives in Dacula with her husband Gabriel and their two daughters, Gracie and Gabby. She enjoys family time, supporting local businesses, and getting lost in a good book from the Dacula Library.
Why I’m Running
I’m running for Dacula City Council because our community deserves thoughtful leadership that puts people first. As a Licensed Social Worker, mental health advocate, and Human Resources professional, I’ve spent my life helping families navigate complex systems—and I’ve seen how strong, connected communities can change lives.
I understand the urgent need for safe spaces and mental health support for both youth and adults. My experiences have inspired me to fight for a Dacula where every resident feels supported, heard, and empowered.
I’m committed to building a cleaner, more sustainable city, strengthening our local economy through small business support and job readiness programs, and expanding educational opportunities for all ages. With a heart for service and a track record of leadership, I’m ready to work for the future of Dacula—one that’s inclusive, thriving, and truly home for all.
Let’s move Dacula forward, together!
